Happy Easter - I hope I've mentioned you!

A very quick message to wish you all a Happy Easter.
Its a gorgeous day in Devon today and we're spending the day at home with family, planning lunch in the garden. I hope you have a lovely day, wherever you are, rain or shine.

Tea and cakes

This last week has been wonderful. Gorgeous weather and by chance my husband had taken the week as holiday. We've been out lots walking, visiting places on our doorstep we never knew existed and places we'd been meaning to go for years.
On Wednesday we went for a walk along the Grand western canal. This is a beautiful walk along a 10 mile stretch of water and in the sunshine it was beautiful. On the way back we stopped for tea at a little teashop.Very quaint cottage, complete with thatched roof. I loved the outdoor shelving and teapots on view!
I also have been baking. I got given a wonderful cookery book for mothers day and had a go at making Vanilla cupcakes. Completely full of sugar and fat...but it was sunny...and we're on holiday! (well thats my excuse!).

Our secret wood

A few years ago, we discovered a little oasis about a mile away from our house. My parents have lived in the same house for 25 years, but it wasn't until recently that we discovered this wood. Its not big, but it is very beautiful and has a two sections....an older part with mature trees, and a younger section which was full of spring blossom today.
No one there....just us, the birds, a squirrel or two, and some tadpoles we discovered in a pond. Its quite rare to find somewhere still so unspoilt and I hope it stays that way x

At the crossroads

Am just about to finish my maternity leave and return to work. I have loved being a stay at home mum and loved spending time with Elliot. I would love to be at home for the next few years, but as like so many others, returning to work is neccessary. So May 9th is my first day back, and Elliots first day at nursery! Scared, excited, nervous, sad...lots of emotions, but ultimately the path we have to follow! (Hence the photo of the crossroads).
I took these photos a couple of days ago. Elliot and I went for a long walk in glorious sunshine and it felt as if summer was here.
The house is our local manor house...now divided up into flats. It looked beautiful the other day in the sun. Although we've lived just down the road, I have never been into the grounds and took this picture over a hedge.
The photo of the main road is our noisy neighbour! When the wind is blowing the wrong way the traffic noise is horrendous, but on a good day you can hadly hear a thing. This day was a noisy one....but the sun and pushing my little 8 month old in his pushchair, more than made up for it!

Am back!

Hello!!
Finally, three months later I get two minutes to update my blog! I'm not sure where time has gone, but have I been busy busy busy! Am loving Spring and and seeing the sun shine and daffodils flower is a welcome sight. Elliot is now 7 months and adorable...but sleeps very little during the day and so I'm constantly on the go.
Weaning and the cooking that goes with it has taken up lots of my time. With Jess my daughter I did very little cooking and she was fed on baby jars for alot of her early months. But this time, I have become queen of purees and am always in the kitchen with my hand blender! (I return to work next month however...so think this will be short lived!)
I've also been trying to get creative when I've had a few spare minutes and have finished my first ever mosaic. Its quite rough and basic, but for my first attempt I was pretty pleased!
Hope you are all well anyway, and I look forward to catching up with your blogs!
